I'm currently a young feminist who is interested in the future of the women's movement and is committed to protecting and defending women's rights and empowering women in all areas of public and private life.

I've joined many women's organizations to see how women - and a few good men - have mobilized to protect, defend, and empower women.  While various organizations tackle specific aspects of women's issues, their is a certain and necessary link among many to empower women.  The more we can unify our resources and support, the more success we will see.

My greatest concern is violence against women and girls.  Until we can end gender-based violence, women and girls will not feel safe pursuing their goals and dreams.  While I'm very fortunate to not have experienced domestic or sexual violence in my life, I wish that reality for all women and girls.  I find the current statistics on violence perpetrated against women and girls absolutely unconscionable - we are destroying the world's greatest resource, our very own source of human life.

A national commitment to women through a Presidential Commission demonstrates a commitment to equality, to balance, and to achieving fair representation of women and gender-specific issues.

I'm grateful to the generations of women who have worked hard to defend and protect my rights.  I wish to offer the same today and for all future generations of women and girls.
